Ashley Freiberg began in racing at age 11 as a timing and scoring official.
While watching her brothers Eric and Brian compete in karting, Freiberg decided to attend the Jim Hall Karting school in California. She started her first karting event in December at Daytona Motor Speedway.
Freiberg placed 4th overall in the Championship Enduro Series regional points. In November, she finished 7th in the WKA national points.
Freiberg scored her first regional and national wins. She completed an undefeated season in CES, winning 2 championships. In November, Ashley captured her first WKA national title. She moved to cars and completed the 3-day Skip Barber Race School in Daytona.
Freiberg competed in her first car race, qualifying 3rd, finished 4th out of 15 cars. Ashley won her fourth karting championship. She began phase one of Lyn St. James’ Driver Development Program.
Freiberg entered her first SCCA national race in Formula Mazda, starting 26th and finished 4th in class. Ashley was invited by Mazda to race in her first BFGoodrich Skip Barber national race, placing 6th of 17 starters. She won her 5th karting championship. She graduated from Lyn St. James’ Driver Development Academy.
Freiberg captured five Skip Barber Regional race wins at Sebring, Road America, Road Atlanta and Carolina Motorsports Park. Ashley became the first female to compete in the Skip Barber National Series and finished 6th in the championship. Ashley competed in her first Star Mazda Race
